I have a 1 1/4 hitch. can this rack be used with this hitch. from what I read it says this rack does not work with the 1 1/4" model but I was uncertain if it is referring to the 1 1/4"hitch

Unfortunatly, No the Holdup Plus 2 does not work with the 1 1/4". The 1 1/4" size racks are not strong enough to support this kind of weight,neither are most vehicles with an 1 1/4" hitch. A class 3 2" hitch would allow for this rack. Depending on the "tongue weight" of your hitch,there are some "hanging" style bike racks that would accomodate 4 bikes but that does depend on the tongue weight,you can find that by looking on the hitch itself.
