Once installed will I be able to open the back hatch without having to remove he rack?
Darla,
Unfortunately no, you will not be able to open your rear hatch with the strap racks. If you would like access to the back of your vehicle while carrying bikes, you might want to consider the Thule 9031 Vertex Swing or the 9027 Apex Swing, which will allow you full access to your vehicle without removing the bikes or the rack. you would however need a 2" hitch on your vehicle.
