Before you can throw any accessories on your car, you need to first have a base rack. Getting two cross-bars across your roof is easy, but can seem a little complicated due to the huge variety of racks available for all different vehicle makes and models

For Vehicles with a Bare Roof

Most cars these days have a bare roof with no place to mount a roof rack. For this style of vehicle Thule uses a rack system that sits on your roof, and mounts by clamping into your door jams. It's both removable and secure, a perfect combination. This style of rack setup needs three parts:

For Vehicles with Raised Rails

Many SUVs and some Wagons come with raised rails running front to back on your roof. You can easily mount a roof rack directly to these bars in just seconds. This style of rack setup needs two parts:

For Vehicles with Tracks (Or Custom Installations)

If your vehicle has tracks running front to back on your roof, or you want to permanently install tracks onto your car for a custom installation, you can mount a rack directly into them with ease. This style of rack setup needs three parts:

Aeroblade Edge Racks

For most vehicles using a rail or track fit, Thule offers Aeroblade edge racks. These racks combine the tower and bars into one piece, giving you a more 'factory' looking rack. Using them only requires getting the vehicle speficic kit to fit your roof.

For Vehicles with Rain Gutters

Older vehicles, and still some current vans, had physical rain gutters built into the roof. Thule has long made racks mounting directly to the gutters with the turn of a knob. This style of rack setup needs two parts:
