Great versatile mount. Using this one to move between two cars as needed. Prefer Q/R with adapters for thru axles to the new mounts because they are cheaper and as standards evolve it's easier to change the adapter than the tray.

This rack is perfect for my mountain bike with disc brakes. The rack was easy to install and fits snug on the aftermarket oval cross-bars. The low-profile of the rack helps reduce wind drag and noise.

I have two of the TieRods and two Thule Echelons on top of my VW factory accessory crossbars. I've used the Echelons for about 3 years. The Tierods are about 2months old but have seen alot of use already this summer. The Tierod is without a doubt a far superior rack. It installs/adjusts positions/removes in under two minutes. Use a cordless driver to turn the hexbolt. There's no rattle (like the Thule) and the bikes are rock solid. I highly recommend the tierod over the Thule Echelon.

No! Any tools required for installing this rack product come included in the box!

This comes down to your preference, the type of bikes you're carrying, and if you have any height restrictions. But for the most part if you're not riding a super fancy high-end road race bike then leaving your front tire on is easier, and more convenient.
