The recommended screw size did not work but it just took some trial and error to find the correct length using the supplied washers. You cannot use the rearmost fixed points or the pads will be partially off of the roof, use the second fixed points from the rear. A shame that the rubber seal isn't big enough to cover the gap between the towers and the gutters.

Already had a set on a Mazda5. The new set on a Mazda3 will allow for sharing Yakima crossbars and an ATOC Tandem Topper between both cars with minimum effort and maximum efficiency. Plus, the Landing Pads on the roof make it easier to spot a car in a crowded parking lot.

These fit fine. My only (minor) gripe is they are not contoured to fit perfectly down into the roof ditch. There is a small gap between the landing pad and to roof ditch molding. I don't think this has any functional affect on the rack... it is just a matter of appearances.

These feet were designed to match BMW's roof anchor system, and work well enough. Why not five stars? By their design, the single bolt that attaches the pad to the car's roof, is blind, and the threaded part on the car was obviously welded onto the lower layer of the roof, resulting in post under the mounting spot. By virtue of the Yakima design, the installer must feel for the post with the mounting bolt, and the bolt wants to go everywhere but in the threaded hole, making the installation, for this one aspect, more troublesome than it otherwise would be. Also, the plastic of the feet, while tough, would be no problem for a determined thief to cut quickly and remove the bars. Kudos to Yakima for including all the necessary hardware and providing a clear matrix for what hardware is required for what model cars, and tool is included. I dare say, this system design is much easier to use than the Thule complement, in terms of installing and removing the bars on a routine basis.

These fit perfectly! Easy installation and look great. The rack does end up being a little taller once the SkyLine towers are attached but this actually helps with binding clearance on the roof.

They are very large and not as sleek as I would prefer. They also raise the bar up higher than other base mounts.

Rack Attack

Despite our best efforts to make it clear, roof racks can be a little convoluted. The reason clips come in sets of two, while towers come as four, is most vehicles require different clips for the front and back, two of each. If you're vehicle needs the same front and back, then you would need two boxes of them. Sorry for any confusion.

Very Disappointed that these only come in a pair, while everything else comes in a set of 4

I bought these for my 2009 Mazda5, even though they were not listed as a match. They fit fine! No surprise as the roof is the same as the Mazda3.

MAZDA 3 Solution

I gave it a 4 simply because the instructions say to use the long bolts when installing. I got it all installed exactly like instructed and they were not snug at all. For those of you out there that had this same problem and spent an extra 30 trying to figure out where you went wrong (JUST USE THE SHORT BOLT INSTEAD) I was so frustrated that I almost sent the whole thing back. Until I found the secret solution.
