The SKS core locks go in easily....that is if you have the master key which I didn't get. Luckily I had a master key from my previous Yakima racks and was able to install.

I bought these cores hoping they were the same as ones I already have. However these latter ones are old and do not have a brand name, so I couldn't re-order them. They are more robust in construction than the Yakima cores, however I have yet to try the Yakimas so can't comment on their actually strength and robustness in use.

I regret buying these. Probably worth $5. They only lock the flimsy plastic cover on - doesn't interlock with any metal pieces at all. It would be simple to bypass with a flat screwdriver.

This is not a negative comment about Rack Attack but more to Yakima itself. The lock cores themselves are perfectly fine but the price for these tiny lock cores is borderline extortion. I have yet to see someone who doesn't get the lock kit so it might as well just come as standard equipment. If it were not some proprietary SKS thing I'd expect to pay about $10-15 for the set. Maybe they are solid platinum? I think of them as 4 "necessary evils" and pay the going rate so someone doesn't steal my rack. Happy with product, Yakima needs to rethink how they price this one for the dealers.

Minus for the locks -- they don't retain well, and want to come out when unlocking, and in practice, one has to develop a habit of holding the lock in with one hand while withdrawing the key with the other. Of course, all locks are only for honest people, but Yakima could easily have gone one step up for little money (they could have copied Thule, for example).

Product works as advertised after your able to find a control key. The control key is required to install the locks. Did I mention that the control key isn't included? Look close, it's not in the picture is it! Kit is supposed to come with three keys. FAIL

Don’t know if it’s the Yakima lock or the actual Yakima rack but two of the Yakima locks don’t work. The key won’t turn to the right to lock the lock onto the kayak rack.

They fit the accessories such as the accessory lock housing just fine, BUT BEWARE: if you intend to use these with keys you already have, you're better off going to a store and trying to find cores that match your keys. Otherwise you'll be sent a random core numbered anywhere between A131 and A155. (There's no option to select online.)
