The installation instructions are a bit lacking in detail, a YouTube search helped. It turns out the bolts an nuts are 3/4 inch hex heads, not the 1/2 inch indicated in the directions. The rack does perform as expected. I am a 6' man in reasonably good shape. While I can mount the rack on my own, my wife who Is also in reasonably good shape could not. The rubber straps on the bike clamps also require significant hand strength to secure, but as a result they are definitely secure. The directions do not include any informtion on repositioning the bike mounts which requires a hex wrench. 3 bikes mount easily, a 4th is possible depending the the frame size and configuration. I would also reccomend getting a cable lock to replace the nylon strap for securing the bikes to the rack frame.

2014 Subaru Outback Wagon

Fast shipping and price was equal to what I would have paid on Amazon. Assembly was generally pretty easy, although 1) you really need a 3/4" socket wrench to tighten the nuts onto the bolts (this is the same size you'll need to tighten the bolt that holds the rack in the receiver hitch) and 2) it's heavy, so a little awkward. I am able to fit 3 mountain bikes on the rack with no rubbing; haven't tried 4. The swing-out option was the selling point for me on this rack. It's not exactly push-button - you need to unscrew a lock bolt (made easy with a big plastic handle) and move a spring-loaded lock pin in order to free the rack to swing - but only takes about 30 seconds once you get the hang of it. Overall very sturdy and I am pleased!

The SportRack Ridge swinging bike rack is a great less expensive option to some other brands. The hardware comes with nylon nuts that hold well, the threads are greased already, & has bronze bushing installed where bike rack swings. Good quality welds and nice finish with the powder coat.

2005 Honda Element

Extremely pleased with the bike rack. I carried 3 bikes and one of them having a baby carrier installed. The ease of use with the swing capability is why I purchased it. I also like the fact that all parts are metal and all joints are visible (not like Yakima and Thule where the joints are covered with plastic parts). This makes it heavy but I have more confidence on the product knowing that I see every connection point and everything is metal parts. It was very stable during the ride.
