Kuat NV Base 2 Bike Rack

The Kuat NV Base 2.0 Bike Rack was delivered on-time and set up was easy. The Rack is sturdy. The only downside is that I drive a sedan and the Rack covers the license plate in the up position. I have been using the Rack for a week, and so far and it hasn't be an issue. I love how the Rack holds the bike in position.

Very nice looking and solid rack, easy to assemble but a little heavy than expected. Holds the bikes well and for added security I zip tied the hook to the wheels/tires in case the the ratcheting arm fails.

It's heavy, but easy to assemble and set up. Super fast to secure your bikes. Wish I bought one of these years ago.

Easy to use!

I'm very pleased with this bike rack so far. I have a fat tire bike (27.5'' wheels, 4.5'' tires) and this rack is one of the few that does accommodate my bike. It does come with 1 strap extender + 1 velcro strap for front wheel in box. Wasn't super clear in description so I bought an extra set to be sure, can't hurt to have a spare (or extra set for 2nd fatbike). The only thing is the ratchet arm won't extend enough to go over the wheel from its lower position (for my specific wheel/tire combo). It does work if I leave it up so I can slide the bike sideways under the arm and them push it down snug. No big deal. It does need assembly, takes about 20 minutes, all tools are provided. It installs in 2 minutes on you hitch, again no extra tools required (#2 reason I bought this one, I can get it on/off super fast if needed). I managed to open my tailgate fully once I dropped the front wheel cradles to their lowest position (no bikes loaded of course). Otherwise the tilted position helps get a little more clearance but won't allow to open fully with bikes on. Feels super sturdy, has not come loose since I installed it a few weeks ago. Bikes don't seem to move a lot when travelling, seems pretty secure. I like the 1-key lock system (hitch pin + 1 cable on each bike). Blackout design looks great with my truck, doesn't stick out much from the number in its folded position. Still can see the licence plate and backup camera isn't blocked. Yes it's expensive but so far it checks all the boxes for me so I would recommend it.

2019 GMC Sierra 1500 Crew Cab

So far this bike rack has been perfect - everything I wanted. Bikes are easy to take on and off the rack, they are extremely secure and the rack does not come in contact with the bike frame at any point. The ability to tilt the rack down to access the back hatch works flawlessly on my vehicle. This rack is built solidly and I love being able to tighten the rack to the hitch to eliminate any rattling around while driving, you can hardly notice the rack is there while driving down the highway. This rack is expensive for sure but feels like it solid and of very high quality - you get what you pay for. Added bonus the black matches the black trim on my car perfectly. Would definitely recommend this rack for someone looking for a high end rack that is willing to spend the money.

2018 Subaru Forester

Great product. Though it was too close to the vehicle causing the bike handle to touch the rear window & did not allow access to the rear door. The lower bar was too close to the ground, due to length, and scrapes on the driveway slope. Had to order the Kuat High-Lo hitch adapter, hopefully this will resolve all issues. Aside from that, it is a great product and Kuat has excellent customer service. The description states that it will accommodate bikes as small as 20” but you have to call Kuat to order an adapter for 20” bikes. Kuat sent the adapter out Free of charge and it arrived in 2 days. These are all things I wish I knew before purchasing. Still a great quality product.

This Kuat rack is exceptionally well designed and constructed. It looks great in matte black on my silver 4Runner and when folded down still leaves lots of room to get stuff in and out of the back. It's super quick to get bikes on and off.

I was close to pulling the trigger on the 1up Quik Rack, but realized that a mounting system like that offered on the Kuat provided more flexibility for our needs. The initial assembly was a little tedious. If you can find someone to help you put the pieces together, you'll save about 15-20 mins of assembly. The rack is solid. If you're looking for a hitch mount solution which can scale as your family grows, this is the system to purchase. For those that care about appearances, this rack in matte black wins.

2017 Jeep Grand Cherokee

I use a Speicalized StumpJumper FSR Carbon comp 650b and old Giant Warp DS1, had no problems, my rack is mounted on a 2014 Tundra Crewmax, had to get a Kuat HiLo hitch accessory which you don't need but when i opened my tailgate the gate was barely touching the Front tire support on the rack. Of course, I got the Hi Lo just so that I can open the tailgate all the way. but if your not too Obssessive Compulsive you don't need the HiLo acessory for the hitch, (it puts the rack 2" higer or 2" lower so that your truck tailgate can be allowed to open all the way down with out touching any part of the rack.

2014 Toyota Tundra CrewMax

You cannot go wrong with this rack.... Assembly would be easier with two people for alignment of parts, but I did it by myself and it works perfectly. The design is well thought out and seriously works. In fact, loading time for this platform rack is literally seconds compared to others I watch with hanging racks. Highly recommend this product to anyone in the market for a hitch mounted platform.

This rack holds bikes securely. The bikes and rack firmly stay in place even over rough terrain. Finish is handsome. It is expensive but it is the best. The only drawback is the weight.

2004 GMC Envoy

This best rack I've owned. Although it is pricey, you get what you pay for. First off it is as packaged very well. Assembly was easy and installation was a breeze. Loading bikes on the rack is so simple and very solid. I typically drive to various locations to ride and this rack is solid as a rock. The rack does not bounce around and the bikes are stable as can be. Other features I love are the ability to have access to rear cargo are, ability to fold up rack and. It have to remove from vehicle, built in locks to secure bikes if I need to run into the store. (Would not trust for long term security) and lastly is being able to transport my carbon frame bikes without having to use the frame as a securing point (which is not a good idea). All in all the is an outstanding rack.
