Not into Skiing? Big White has So Much More to Offer
Not everyone in your group might be into hitting the slopes. In addition to alpine skiing (day and night), big white offers a variety of activities to keep your days and nights full of joy.
Nordic Skiing
More commonly referred to as “cross country”, Nordic Skiing is basically walk-sliding your way through mostly flat forest trails. You can get out for some exercise in a fun and beautiful way, without the speed and fear of tearing up the downhills.
Snowshoeing
If you enjoy an easy summer hike, you’ll love a peaceful afternoon on snowshoes. A calm walk through snow-covered trees. Get yourself lost in the backcountry and enjoy the beautiful BC air. Note: You can’t actually get lost, the trails are extremely well marked.
Horse Drawn Sleigh Ride Dining Tour
Want to feel like a fancy person from the past? You can take a horse drawn sleigh ride through the woods to a beautiful, warm, cozy cabin where you will start your day with a delicious Canadian breakfast: bacon, eggs, pancakes, and always real maple syrup. PS. We're talking real bacon. Even Canadian's don't like "Canadian Bacon".
Want the Horse Without the Flapjacks?
You can enjoy a horse drawn sleigh ride any time of day without the need to stop for a delicious breakfast. Just grab someone warm to hold on to and enjoy the muffled clip-clop of hooves on snow as you tour Big White’s beautiful scenery.
Dog Sled Tours
Horses aren’t your thing? What about dogs? You like dogs? Live out your Jack London Call of the Wild dreams with an exciting dog sled ride around the park. The best part: you get to meet and pet the dogs. Reservations highly recommended. The dogs are too cute, this sells out quickly.
Tubing
Big white sets up a wickedly fun tubing center each winter. Just grab a tube, stand on the conveyor belt lift (that’s right, you don’t even need to walk up the hill!) and slide down however you like. Singles, groups, forward, backwards, straight, or with spin. Whatever your styles, the tubing is guaranteed to bring smiles.
Ice Climbing Tower
Ever wanted to know what it’s like to strap on crampons, grab an axe, and climb up a frozen waterfall? Me too. Big White has a purpose built 3-foot thick ice wall made just for this purpose. Gear is supplied, and the ropes are set making this a safe and fun adventure for any person of any age.
Ice Skating
Big white has an outdoor Olympic sized skating rink, free to use at your own leisure. There’s a rental shop next to the ice to grab skates or sticks. That’s right: you can take part in a classic Canadian drop-in game of Shinny. The rules of Shinny are simple:
- Anyone can play
- No raising the puck
- No contact or roughness of any type
- No stoppages
- And most importantly: when a small child has the puck, everyone has to pretend to try and check them but just can’t catch them! They’re too fast!
Snowmobile Tours
Ever wanted to brap! your way across the snow on a snowmobile (pro tip: just call them a sled)? Big white offers snowmobile tours and even Mini-Z Sleds with a track built just for children. Your chance to give’er, send it, and fly through the snow like never before.
Fat Biking
A fat bike is a mountain bike with giant “fat” tires. With one of these you can pedal yourself around the back country trails.
Want to get Trapped Indoors?
Big White offers Trapped Escape Rooms. A fully immersive, interactive, problem solving adventure for the whole family. They’re seriously fun, I highly recommend them.
As you can see there is no shortage of wicked-fun things to do while you’re up at big white. So, grab yourself a biggie card, pack your gear into your rooftop cargo box, and get yourself up the mountain for the best adventure you’ll have all year.
