Saris 801 Bones 3 Bike Grey Bike Rack

Brilliant ownership proposition. Every once in a while you find a product where you marvel at the ingenuity and its utility. The Bones 3 is just brilliant, nothing else comes close. Mine hangs on the wall unobtrusively in a very small garden shed, is constructed in a few minutes and works perfectly with the family bikes. Everyone I know wants one. Good work Saris!

I bought my Bones rack in 1997 and I've used it on a regular basis for 19 years. It's still in great condition and I haven't had to fix anything. I've used it on 3 different cars and a minivan with no modifications. It's been through 5 round trips from Michigan to Florida (over 10,000 miles) and still going strong. All materials -- metal, plastic, rubber, and straps - continue to hold strong. It folds down easily for storage and takes me 3-5 minutes to assemble and mount after storage.

Eight years ago I purchased the Bones RS rack and fell in love with it. I was so disappointed when I purchased a new car last fall and the old rack would not fit on it. This summer I did some research and found that the Bones 3-Bike rack would fit my new car. It was so lightweight compared to the RS rack, I was concerned. However, it is amazing also and I already love it. It was fairly easy to install (maybe not quite as easy as the RS but pretty close) and it is solid once it is on. I have not yet placed 3 bikes on it at the same time, but it appears as though this will not be a problem. This company just knows how to make exceptional products.

I did a lot of research before buying this rack. I'm happy with my purchase. I didn't give it five stars because, while I think this is a great rack, I'm not sure any trunk rack is a five-star bike carrier. My research told me this one is probably the best trunk rack, and after receiving it, I believe that is true. I am using the rack on a 2014 Audi A4. The site said Bones 3 would fit, and it does fit very snugly. When I filtered available Saris racks by ones that would hold my carbon fiber bike (Trek carbon road bike), this one disappeared from the options list. My bike store contacted Saris, and they said it would be fine. However, not all carbon frames will be as snug as they'd like. I have been very happy with how well my bike fits. At highway speeds and over bumps, the rack and the bike both look very secure with very little (if any) sway. I also purchased the cross bar (accessory) to carry my wife's bike (Trek hybrid woman's bike). Her bike sways much more than mine does, but not enough for it to be intolerable. The cross bar doesn't seem capable of giving that tight, secure, no-sway fit that the bike frame itself gives, but it gets the job done, and I'm happy I can carry both bikes. The first time I setup the Bones 3 it took a while to configure. Now, I can easily set it up in five minutes. The bottom line is that if you're in the market for a trunk rack, and you're considering Bones 3, then I do recommend this rack.

I love my rack...I primarily use it for one or two bikes at a time. But occasionally I do carry three bikes and that's why I purchased this rack. It holds two bikes great and ands three ok. If carrying three it's a good idea to have some kind of padding between the bikes as it is quite crowded. Thus the reason for 4 stars rather than five. I am very happy with the rack it's fast & easy to mount the bikes and relatively simple to mount the rack on my vehicle. I've looked at & used other racks.....I would DEFINITELY recommend these racks...also...I have purchased a different car since having this rack...I just adjusted it to the new car....simple

I have owned my bones 3 for over 2 years now. There is no comparison between this rack and other brands when you are traveling at interstate speeds. No shaking or bouncing happening with my bikes. I used this on multiple cars, and it is always a fit, SUV or compact car. Never leaves marks on automotive paint or finished. Customer support is awesome about replacement parts as well. Only thing I don't like are the plastic screws holding the arms, although they have never been an issue. My rack has seen much use.

Moved two bikes with this from Madison to Seattle and back, through some bad weather and never had any issues. Also did great on many local trips.
