Thule 917XTR T2 2 Bike Hitch Rack 1-1/4 Inch Bike Rack

Worked great for 3 months, then both ratchets that hold the bikes stopped working. The spring is defective and the whole mechanism is plastic and flimsy. I do not trust this rack with my 6000++ bikes. I have to take it back to the store for a warrantee replacement. errrrr!!

2009 toyota highlander

The rack sits a bit far and high if you own a smaller vehicle but its nice to know that you have the clearance. The 1.25" hitch isn't the strongest and the rack will sway quite a bit if you hit bumps and the bikes will rattle around on the highway. My rack sits crooked, I measured about 5 degrees off the hitch mount. I called thule for help and the service wasn't great... I am a little disappointed with Thule on this one.

I use this rack with the Mini do more hitch system. The rack works great, just as advertised. Does not bounce or squeak as far as I can tell and the way I drive my Mini it really puts it through its paces. It sits just a hair crooked but no big deal. I straigtened it out with some ingenuity. Only used it twice so I may be back for an update. I ordered it and received it the very next day with UPS ground service. The benefit of being one state away from their Oregon outlet. They shipped the same day I ordered so that was a big bonus in my book.

2002 Mini Cooper S Hatchback

I had two problems with the rack installation, the front wheel boot on the bar rubbed against the car bumper and the release catch for the rack positions would not allow movement of the rack. I called Thule Support and they said to reverse the wheel boot's position so the tall section of the boot would be outboard allowing clearance for the bumper. This stopped the boot from rubbing on the bumper but moved the too far in the other direction causing the rear wheel boot to hang over the end of the mounting bar. Instead I trimmed off a bit of the boot. The other problem was with the catch release and Thule Support said the rack was probably defective and return it to the dealer. I called Rack Attack and was told to just loosen the housing lock-tight bolts slightly to fix the problem and this worked perfectly. In my opinion Thule Support is lacking knowledge of their products and Rack Attack is a good place for product support. Very happy with the rack now that the problems were solved.

2010 Mazda 3s

QA issue on this product. The rack that I received has QA issues. Platform is not levelled and tilted to the left. Other than that, the rack is easy to use.
