Sorry to hear this happened to you, this is uncommon. But Yakima has a lifetime warranty, and I'm sure would be happy to replace the towers for you. https://explore.yakima.com/lifetime-warranty.

This system is tight and secure but noisy. With twin infants noisy enough to keep them awake. traded in for Whispbar system.

I needed to reinstall the Yakima Factory Mount Towers on a different vehicle. They came off just fine, but when I tried to adjust the claw, the claw adjuster would not budge. Finally, it separated from the underlying machine screw. When I tried to turn the machine screw with a wrench, the machine screw snapped off.

A somewhat mixed review. When finally assembled and installed, it appears to be a very rugged unit that should last forever. Quite a bit of plastic, but seems like a very rugged type of plastic. Assembly was nowhere near as easy as their video portrays. Lots of trial and error for me. One thing that really got me mad was the adjusting screw used to clamp the cross pipes. The clamp comes fully tightened from the factory so the cross pipes won't fit. You have to loosen the clamps. Most people will loosen the adjusting screw lots to be able to get the pipe through (as I did). After the towers are all finally adjusted and it's time to tighten the cross pipe clamps, voila, because the factory wanted to save $.000001 they made the adjusting screw way too short and you have to take the towers and pipes off to figure out why the clamps aren't tightening. An extra 1/4" of screw thread would help a whole bunch. Once you finally get everything assemble and tightened correctly, you have to use the allen wrench provided to get the units off and on. A bit annoying for me but I guess it has to be done to deter theft.

These towers are just the ticket for our Subaru Impreza's factory rails. The new gripping system allowed me to mount the towers far enough forward that I can open the hatchback without hitting the wheel tray on a Viper.
