I bought the Hull-A-Port Pro to go on my Yakima base rack system because I thought it was better made than the Yakima alternatives. They were easy to install and very easy to use. The straps and bow/stern tie downs are excellent. Not as much wobble when seating the kayak as I get with my friend's Yakima Bowdowns which consistently flop over even though her kayak is smaller and lighter than mine. The Hull-A-Port Pro has met my expectations!

2008 Toyota Prius

I have an Ocean Kayak Ultra 4.7 (15ft) fishing yak. I have used this Thule system for less than 5 total trips to include a drive to the Keys from MI. These cradles do not fit this boat well at all. Allowed boat to slide and eventually damaged the cradles to the point that I have to go with a different system. I like Thule products but make sure it fits your boat really well before purchasing. Salesman took me for a bit of a ride on this one. (not from rackattack).

2012 VW Jetta Sportwagon TDI

We have several kayaks, smaller boats like my wife's Dancer or our Folbot Yukons work fine. However, with our larger boats, Old Towne Loon 160 and Perception Keowe II the lower section of the Hull-a-Port is too short and lacks adequate curve to support the boat securely. I'd really give these a 2 1/2 but it wasn't possible. YMMV

2004 Toyota Highlander

I bought 2 sets (4 units) of the 835PRO to carry our 2 kayaks. I wanted a unit that would fold down when not in use. On our first trip to the cottage one of the units unlocked and, at 90kmh, the kayak fell to the drivers side of the van. Fortunately the straps held it in place so the kayak did not crash to the ground. Thule replaced the 2 units (1 set). On our next trip (4000KM), we were 1000KM into the trip when the same thing happened while I was doing 110KM. This time both the units that Thule had repaced had failed and came unlocked. Thule could not explain why 3 of the 6 835PRO units had failed but I would suggest a design flaw in the locking mechanism. Ofcourse Thule told me that no other 835PRO units had failed. I am still pessimistic.

Top notch quality and ease of installation - Thank you Thule and Rack Attack!! The J-racks are far more practical than my previous kayak saddle system.

2007 VW Rabbit

This looks good but a larger kayak slides off of it too easily. It can't be done easily with one person when your kayak is 65 lbs. I have a 12 foot Ocean Kayak and I am now opting for a Glide and Set. I tried to make this one work, but it just doesn't work for me. I can't return it 60 days after purchasing it so maybe somebody with a lighter kayak will get it as a gift.

I would not recommend this product. We are college grads and could not get two kayaks strapped together on our vehicle without a ladder and more than 2 tie downs. It would have been easier to put them into our 8 foot bed pickup!

1999 gmc yukon

My only other comment about the J-rack itself is that its picture online does not do it justice. It is far better in terms of quality than it looks and than I ever expected. Right on Rack Attack!
