No, the Pro has the new style cradles and has an integrated lock. Those are the only differences.

I am looking at buying the Thule 963XTR Spare Me 2 Bike rack and the Thule Hitch Ski Carrier 987XT and was wondering if these two are compatible. I drive a 2009 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited.

hi,

these two racks are compatible together. the new model of ski carrier, the Thule Tram, is a little easier to install and remove when you don't need it, but this is still a super solid set up. either model ski carrier will also work with either spare me rack (963XTR or 963PRO).

Nat,

The Spare Me 963XTR has been designed to fit the following OEM tire size ranges: P195 75 R15 through 265 70 R17/255 70 R18. Check the Rubicon tire to make sure you are within that range, which I'm sure you are. Installation is straight forward, you remove the spare tire, mount the base plate, put the spare tire back on, and then the rack bolts right to the plate that sticks through the spare tire. EZ PZ. Hi Richard,

Thule doesn't recommend using hanging style bike racks for carbon fibre bikes. The issue is with possible scratching of the frame. Some people use towels or soft cloths around the point of contact on the frame before using the rubber strap to secure the bike.

The best style that Thule and Yakima recommends for carbon fibre bikes is either tray style like the Thule T2 or Yakima Hold Up 2. You can also go roof mounted with the Thule Echelon or Peloton or the Yakima Fork Lift.
