What material is the 665C Transporter Combi made of? And, can the lid be removed?

The Transporter Combi is made of a heavy plastic. Its the exact same material that they use for their roof top cargo boxes. The lid cannot be removed without basically destroying the box. If this is something that you want to go with I'd urge you to jump on it asap as Thule has discontinued production of the 665C and is simply running through their stock.

Responding to email.

You have another shopper who posted on your website that it won't work on his vehicle, which is why I was asking. So to confirm, you are saying this will work on a 2012 Honda CR-V and will allow me to open my tailgate completely, correct?

Your 2012 CRV is a lift gate trunk. The other customer on our website has a barn style door, similar to a Rav4 door, which would hit the box in the tilted position. Your car is not like that as far I know, so you will be able to tilt the box down (when empty).

Thanks, Rack Attack Boston

I have a 2007 Roadtrek RS Adventurous with 2 back doors that open horizontally. Could I still open doors with this box?

Hi Tim,

Unfortunatley your doors will not open all the way. The box does tilt down when empty but not enough to allow "barn door" style trunk doors to open fully.

Are you able to drop the tail gate of a pick-up truck with this item attached?

Jeffrey, Yes this product has a tilt down design that allows the tailgate to come down. If you have any other questions feel free to call or shoot us another email.

My Curt Class II hitch is about 7 inches off the ground. Will this box work on my Matrix without scraping? I can't find the dimensions on the support bar rise.

The 665C does not drop below the level of the hitch receiver. The only limitation is the ensure that the exhaust pipe does not direct exhaust onto the box, and that the tip of the pipe must be a minimum of 14" from the box. If you have any other questions , feel free to call 508 879 1444. Thanks!
