how many adapters would have to be purchased to install this rack to my rail system? looks like i need 8 in total, 2 per post. is the adapter price for a pair or individual units? i am trying to figure out if it would cost me an xtra $600 to use this product with my pick up.

You only need to purchase one (1); the Thule XK1 comes complete with all the necessary parts and components to attach the Thule 422XT Xsporter to a Toyota Tacoma truck bed.
