Thule 916 T2 Bike Hitch 2 Inch

I purchased this rack after researching all racks of this type and then reading the positive reviews here. I must say that this is a substantially beefy rack. My experience with the rack merited a 4 star instead of 5 star though because the unit arrived with a defective ratchet arm mount (the bearing clamp section). After noticing how freely the arm moved compared to the others, I saw that the bolts were not tightened. I soon found out why. The heads were nearly stripped and could not be tightened and I very nearly couldn't get them out. After trying new bolts to no avail, I called Rack Attack and they immediately took note of the parts I needed and forwarded this to Thule as well as copying me on the e-mail. My spare parts arrived the following week free of charge. This kind of service will have me coming back to Rack Attack but this clear oversight of a quality issue that was very obvious will make me consider Thule a little harder next time. At any rate, the rack is functional now as a four bike instead of the 3 arm setup I had to deal with for a week. I love the ability to adjust the rack front to back and side to side and is the main reason I went with this rack. I had to use both adjustments to get the contact out in the handlebar area and the rear hub bolt area. All in all, a very nice rack that is downgraded to a 4 star because of the quality issue mentioned. One last note, I did not like the bolts that tighten the brackets to the backbone. They were button head 8mmX1.25X25mm bolts which by their design have a very shallow head. If you need to loosen and retighten these more than once, the head will be useless. I replaced all 16 of these, because I have the 4 bike setup, with stainless steel cap head bolts of the same size. The head is much deeper and won't tear up and the stainless will not rust. While they may not look quite as neat, they are much more functional. I highly recommend everyone make this change. Also, make sure and check those arm bearing clamps as one of mine would have fallen off on the first trip, along with the bike!!

I love the ability to make minor adjustments to the T2 like bike spacing and offsets in case you have a spare tire behind your car.

If you are a downhill mountain biker, like me, there is no substitute to the Thule T2. With so many different bike frames out there, post style hitch racks become really inconvenient. The fold-up and fold-down is easy, and when folded up the rack is quiet.
