This is a decent hitch mounted rack for basic bicycle transportation. You MUST use a stabilizing strap with this rack to minimize back and forth sway. The construction is solid on this unit and would probably last a lifetime. But, if you intend to take your car on the freeway this rack may not be for you. The strong force of high speed winds will cause the rack to sway and the bikes to "flap up" To prevent the "flap up" you will need to strap the bikes very close to each other, and then to the rack frame. This may cause bike parts from the other bike (if you are carrying two) to rub against each other. Delicate carbon frames, wheels and components will not hold up well to the constant rubbing. If you have expensive bikes that you'd like to carry on a rack, I would strongly recommend a roof or hitch rack that uses wheel trays and stabilizer arms on the front wheel, such as Thule's 916 or 917.

I purchased the Roadway 2 late in the summer and it is great. So much better than my old trunk rack... Money well spent.
