Does the rear wheel mount on the 526 move independently from the mounting bracket? I.E. how do you adjust the wheelbase length for diff. bikes? On my other carrier the ratchetong belt would easily slide.

Yes, don't worry, the rear wheel strap does in fact move for different bikes. The picture does not do it justice, as far as showing that aspect.
