Thule 599xtr Big Mouth Bike Rack

It needs 2 more allen bolts and square nuts to make it ultra stable .the Holes already exist in the yoke's frame.

Jesus, I'm sorry to hear that. We've had no problem with the bigmouth carrying standard tires, just not super beefy ones. I'm kind of upset with Thule's reply, especially since it's entirely incorrect. You can use the straps from the Thule Sidearm in this, they're about 4" longer and would solve your problem. Give us a call and we'll see how we can help you out.

I bought two of these Thule racks. When I got them home I found that neither my Trek or my Spark mountain bikes, both with use a standard size mountain bike tire, will fit in these racks. The straps are too short to go around the rim and tire! So, I contacted Thule, after all, these are expensive racks. Here is their response, and I quote: Thank you for contacting Thule Customer Service. The only suggestion we can recommend is to let air out of the tires. Unfortunately Thule does not offer longer replacement straps for the Big Mouth. So, basically, what Thule said is, "You are on your own, our rack doesn't work with mountain bikes, so you will have to LET THE AIR OUT OF YOUR TIRES EVERYTIME YOU TRY TO USE OUR RACK! Terrible product, terrible company. These don't work with mountain bikes, so stay away from them.

These are fantastic racks. If you need to put a lot of bikes very close together and have 20mm or 15mm thru axles, this is a great rack to use. I haul 4 DH bikes on a regular basis on my car. I've been in serious cross-winds, winding roads, etc and have never had an issue with these. best rack for the price.
