This rack is all one piece (tho you can get replacement load bars), and is easily installed. It takes some time to adjust the tension and ensure symmetrical placement of the load bars, by tightening at both ends on both front and back racks. But once tightened down, they have never worked loose; have always stayed tight and firmly attached. Even when I loaded 4 boats on top (bottom two in cradles, top two nesting on top, on foam noodles, and all tied securely down). The locks have worked well, never needed lubrication. Only negative is that if you get a different vehicle, the feet may not adjust wide enough to accommodate the factory rack on it. So I could not use this rack on my Safari van. I have a Montana again, and am back in business with this rack; it is not rusted and still works perfectly.
