Yakima Cross Bar

Bars did not come with end plugs which is odd and frustrating

Although, they are expensive and did not come with the end caps I am giving these bars a rating of 5. They are strong and have a protective coating to prevent rust. Yakima's quality should outlast the life of the vehicle.

This system is tight and secure but noisy. With twin infants noisy enough to keep them awake. traded in for Whispbar system.

Solid bars, easy to install. went from 58" to 66" to fit a canoe and cargo box on my Outback.

These are much heavier (which is a good thing) than I had anticipated. They feel very solid and I am quite happy with their appearance. The end caps require a few serious whacks to install so that felt a bit harsh for my brand new bars. However, the caps have remained secure so their performance seems fine.

Sturdy, simple, unassuming. Mine had no marking for the middle, but a pen and tape measure took care of that. Used my camping mallet to jam the end caps on, and they now seem permanent.

Long and Strong! I needed bars to that worked with my current Yakima towers but with some extra space for canoes and paddle boards. These are long enough with a few inches to spare. Perfect. Just give them a quick shot of Rust proof before sticking the end caps on to help improve the life. My last set serviced me well for over 10 year, they were just to short.

Pipes are made from a much heavier gauge on these 86" bars. The gauge is more like black natural gas pipes. Not lightweight at all, surprisingly heavy.
