Yakima RidgeLine (Set of 4)

Well built and sturdy. This is my 3rd Yakima set of roof racks. I have complete confidence that my storage box and contents will be safe during long road trips.

A little too complicated to put together with the clips on my X5 as they don't have the best instructions and you have to YouTube them.

These are fussy to set up if you choose to use the round bar adapters. One of the adapters would not slide over the bars due to what appeared to be a manufacturing defect/misalignment. Dylan from Yakima customer support helped me to make a decision about how to overcome the problem. I ended up forcing it on. I have used every style of Yakima rack they have made. I would rate these behind both the rail grabbers and also the old gutter mounts but well ahead of all of the bare roof Q tower iterations. I like the torque tool but since I own several of them I felt like I was paying for something I did not need. Give a quarter drive mounted ball driver or let me supply my own.

The quality of the design and build looks very good but seems a bit pricey compared to the Yakima components I've purchased in the past. My Lowrider towers were bulletproof over 12 years of use and I see no signs they wouldn't keep doing the job forever. Time will tell if these serve me as well. My first impression is that they should.

Hard to assemble. Instructions could use some improvement. Accessing the allen on the underside that attaches the RidgeLine to the bars was almost impossible to access.

This is a lousy design that requires more parts to complete the system. Once you have the necessary clamps, they still fall apart. This is the last Yakima equipment I'll buy.
